Mom on her own...

So Baby Kalista Halani Kaulaweoakaleilehua was born on Monday May 3 2010 to us proud and adoring parents... She just turned 4 months this week. There has been a lot of diaper changes- cloth diapers YEAH! There has been spit up incidents, crying, cooing, smiling, sitting up, giggles and general life. Breastfeeding has been great but now she eats formula too- work takes time away from motherhood. Daddy is so devoted to his little cutesie and the best Dad to her. Thank goodness or I would be totally worried about her this week. Halani went to Oahu to visit her family with her daddy on Tuesday and they left Mom on her own. Working is a challenge but such an accomplishment for me. I really miss them though. They truly are my sanity, so I can't wait to see the both of them tomorrow night after I turn 28. Lots of important events this week. Halani's first plane ride, Halani meets Grammie and the Aunties, Makana turns 1 years old today and I turn 28 tomorrow. Life is still wonderful!

Starting a Blog...

I haven't done this in a long time but when one of my friends who just became a mom sent me her site I thought... What a great idea to record and share my experiences of being a MOM. I'm officially at Week 37 today and baby could come any day now. I'm excited but I hope all will be okay. We are planning to have a home birth in our family home that my cousin lives in now and we just met with the midwives yesterday to go over the birthing logistics. Lots of information and the other half (OH) was a little overwelmed. Me too... It seems all easy but there is still a bit to prepare before the actual day. We had to go and buy some things after our meeting, like herbal teas to help ready my body and shower curtains to set on the floor in the room we will birth in. I want to have a waterbirth but we still need to get the birthing pool from the midwife. We also had to order a liner to make sure everything is sterile, so hopefully baby doesn't decide to come before the liner does- had to order from the mainland since Hawaii doesn't have these things. If it happens, oh well, I guess the tub will do... I finish out work this week and I feel a little overwelmed with making all of my plans so that my students will be all set through the end of the year. Being a teacher is great but not in these positions... I better get back to them.
